Maple-D Spring Qualification

1. Automatic qualification. Pursuant to Article 5(d) of the Constitution, the top six teams in fall play in each age group will automatically qualify for MAPLE-D in the spring. Where, because of the size of the group, fall play has been divided into two sections, the top six will consist of the following teams: The first and second finishers in each section, plus the next two best records, determined - where the two sections do not play equal numbers of games - by converting each teamís record to a fraction, the numerator of which is the actual points earned by the team, and the denominator of which is the maximum points possible in that teamís section.

2. Tournament qualification. The last two places in each age group will be determined on the basis of a Maple-D Qualifying Tournament, to be held on November 4 & 5 [rain/snow dates November 11 & 12]. The particular format for each age group will be as follows:

Boys 12 (14 teams): The remaining 8 teams will be divided into 2 sections based on fall record. Each section will play a round robin. The top finisher in each section will play the 2nd place team from the other section. The winners of these games will qualify for Spring MAPLE-D.  Weymouth SC has not declared for the Spring.

Boys 13 (18 teams): The bottom 4 teams based on fall play will be eliminated. These will consist of the last place team in each section, plus the next two worst records, determined as in paragraph 1 above. The remaining 8 teams will be divided into 2 sections based on fall record. Each section will play a round robin. The top finisher in each section will play the 2nd place team from the other section. The winners of these games will qualify for Spring MAPLE-D.  Mass United has not declared for the Spring.

Boys 14 (15 teams): The last place team with the worst record - determined as in paragraph 1 above - will be eliminated.  The remaining 8 teams will be divided into 2 sections based on fall record.  Each section will play a round robin.  The top finisher in each section will play the 2nd place team from the other section.  The winners of these games will qualify for Spring MAPLE-D.

Girls 12 (13 teams): The last place team will be eliminated. The remaining 6 teams will be divided into 2 sections based on fall record. Each section will play a round robin. The top finisher in each section will play the 2nd place team from the other section. The winners of these games will qualify for Spring MAPLE-D.

Girls 13 (13 teams): Same as Girls 12 above.  Greater Boston and Juventus WMass have not declared for the spring.

Girls 14 (12 teams): The 6 teams not automatically qualifying will be divided into 2 sections based on fall record. Each section will play a round robin. The top finisher in each section will play the 2nd place team from the other section. The winners of these games will qualify for Spring MAPLE-D.  Easton and Boston Lightning have not declared for the Spring.

 

Location, schedule, fee and other administrative details for the tournament will be announced during the season. All teams who may be involved in that tournament are hereby advised that they must be available for all of the scheduled days; no accommodation can or will be made for scheduling conflicts or other commitments a team may have. The roster freeze deadline is October 25. If a team adds players during the season an updated roster must be in the MAPLE office prior to that deadline. Only rosters with additions that have been signed by the League Administrator will be accepted at the tournament.
